What you’re actually buying
At $12.95, you aren’t just buying a file; you’re buying a definitive digital edition of the PEAR CIDER story. The listing highlights a 160-page run that has been updated and remastered, which is a significant upgrade over older, potentially lower-quality scans you might find elsewhere. The file size sits at 82.6 MB, a sweet spot for a digital comic: large enough to hold high-resolution art without becoming a storage hog on your tablet or e-reader.
The real hook here is the inclusion of artwork from the upcoming animated PEAR CIDER film. This isn’t just the original black-and-white or colour pages; it’s a hybrid experience. You get the narrative depth of the graphic novel paired with the new visual language of the animation. For a fan, this is a rare chance to see the transition from page to screen in a single, cohesive package. It’s a collector’s item in digital form, offering a behind-the-scenes glimpse of how the story is evolving.
This is a direct-to-consumer release from Robert Valley, meaning you’re supporting the creator directly without the markup of a traditional publisher. The format is a standard PDF, which ensures compatibility across most devices—whether you’re reading on a Kindle, an iPad, or a desktop computer. The “colour/bw updated” description suggests that the remastering process has cleaned up the art, likely fixing any compression artifacts or inconsistencies from the original print run. Why it’s on our radar
This offer is interesting because it solves a specific problem for indie comic fans: finding a high-quality, current version of a story that’s gaining mainstream attention. Most digital comics are static; once they’re released, they don’t change. But this remastered edition evolves with the project, incorporating new film assets. That’s a level of care and curation that you rarely see in the $10–$15 price bracket. (PEAR CIDER and CIGARETTES graphic novel pdf)
The specificity of the listing—mentioning the 160 pages and the 82.6 MB size—signals that this is a complete, finished product, not a work-in-progress or a partial preview. For someone who has been following the PEAR CIDER project, this is the logical next step: owning the source material in its best possible digital form. It’s a low-risk purchase with high sentimental and aesthetic value.
What actually matters
Before you hit checkout, consider a few practical points to ensure this fits your reading habits. (PEAR CIDER and CIGARETTES graphic novel pdf)
- Device Compatibility: Since it’s an 82.6 MB PDF, check that your e-reader or tablet can handle that file size smoothly. Most modern devices will, but older e-ink readers might struggle with the colour pages or the file weight. (PEAR CIDER and CIGARETTES graphic novel pdf)
- Artwork Quality: The “remastered” tag is a big plus, but if you’re a purist who wants the exact original print look, verify if the remastering changes the art style significantly. The inclusion of film artwork suggests a modernized aesthetic, which might differ from the original comic’s vibe. (PEAR CIDER and CIGARETTES graphic novel pdf)
- Content Scope: Confirm that the 160 pages cover the full story you’re expecting. In indie comics, “graphic novel” can sometimes mean a collection of issues rather than a single continuous narrative. The listing implies a complete story, but always check the table of contents or page breakdown if available on the product page.
- File Access: As a digital download, you’ll get instant access to the PDF file. Make sure you have a secure place to back up your purchase, as digital goods are non-refundable in most cases. (PEAR CIDER and CIGARETTES graphic novel pdf)
