Is Skincare Headband + Face Mask Decal - VRChat worth it if you’re shopping in 3D?
If you’ve spent the last hour hunting for a headband that actually sits right on the Starlight head, you know the frustration of finding something that looks good in a screenshot but clips weirdly or leaves your hair looking like a helmet. Skulli’s Skincare Headband + Face Mask Decal targets that exact gap in the VRChat accessory market. For three dollars, you aren’t just buying a mesh; you’re getting a pre-rigged, low-poly setup that includes two distinct texture styles and a decal that integrates with the specific head model. It’s a small purchase, but the specificity of the deliverables makes it a practical add-on for anyone who lives in that world and wants their avatar to look put-together without breaking a sweat.

What you’re actually buying
At $3, this isn’t a massive asset library, but it is a complete, functional kit. You are getting a headband mesh that is already rigged to the head bone, which means you don’t need to open a rigging tool to make it follow your avatar’s movements. The geometry is efficient at 4,992 triangles, keeping it lightweight for your VRChat performance settings while still holding up visually. (Skincare Headband + Face Mask Decal - VRChat)
The real value here is in the texture variety. You get two full sets of materials: a leopard print and a plain version. Each set comes with 11 textures and maps, so you have plenty of resolution and detail to work with. This isn’t just a single color swap; it’s a distinct aesthetic choice between a bold pattern and a clean, minimalist look. (Skincare Headband + Face Mask Decal - VRChat)
On top of the headband, the pack includes a face mask decal designed specifically for the Starlight head. This is a smart inclusion because face decals are notoriously tricky to align. By providing a pre-made decal, Skulli removes the guesswork of positioning. If you have other heads, the listing notes that you can edit the decal to fit, giving you a little extra flexibility without needing to be a pro modeler. Why it’s on our radar
This product stands out because it solves a very specific problem: accessory compatibility. Most generic headbands are made for standard avatars, but the Starlight head has unique geometry that can cause clipping. By targeting this specific head, Skulli offers a solution that is ready to use out of the box. The low triangle count is also a thoughtful touch for players who are mindful of their performance budget, ensuring that adding this accessory doesn’t tank their FPS. The inclusion of both leopard and plain textures is a nice touch for versatility. You can switch between a wild look and a subtle one without buying a second product. It’s a small price for a level of customization that usually requires commissioning a modeler or spending hours in Blender. (Skincare Headband + Face Mask Decal - VRChat)
What actually matters
Before you buy, check your current avatar setup. This item is explicitly designed for the Starlight head. If you are using a different head model, you will need to be comfortable editing the decal to make it fit, which requires some basic knowledge of VRChat’s avatar editor. (Skincare Headband + Face Mask Decal - VRChat)
The license is clear: you must credit the page and Skulli, and you cannot resell or share the files. However, you can use it on commercial, free, public, and Nitro avatars. This is a standard and fair license for this price point, allowing you to use the asset in almost any context without worrying about restrictions. (Skincare Headband + Face Mask Decal - VRChat)
Finally, note that there are no refunds. Since this is a digital 3D asset, it’s a good idea to double-check the texture previews and the triangle count to ensure it meets your visual and performance standards before you hit the buy button. If something goes wrong after purchase, Skulli mentions their DMs are open on Discord, which is a good sign of support. (Skincare Headband + Face Mask Decal - VRChat)
