Is Wallpaper set - The Cone of Fate worth buying right now?
If your desktop is currently just a blurry screenshot of a game or a generic gradient, you might be missing out on a specific kind of digital texture. WLOP’s work has a distinct, painterly quality that most stock wallpapers simply don’t replicate. That texture is exactly what The Cone of Fate wallpaper set is built to provide. It’s not just a static image; it’s a layered package that includes high-resolution stills and a live, animated version, making it a rare $10 drop that feels like a premium asset.
We’re looking at this because it solves a common frustration: finding high-res art that doesn’t look pixelated on a 4K monitor, or finding a live wallpaper that doesn’t drain your battery with choppy 30FPS animations. This set gives you both the static and the motion, formatted for immediate use.

What you’re actually buying
At $10, you aren’t just getting a single image; you’re getting a tiered set of assets that cover most modern display setups. The core of this pack is the 4K and 8K static wallpapers, delivered in JPG format. For anyone with a high-DPI monitor, that 8K resolution is the differentiator—it means you can zoom in or use it on a large ultrawide setup without seeing compression artifacts or pixelation.
But the real value here is the inclusion of the live wallpaper. Most artists who sell digital art only provide static files, forcing you to find a third-party tool to animate it. WLOP includes a 2K and 4K MP4 file running at 60FPS. That frame rate is critical; it’s the difference between a smooth, cinematic loop and a stuttering video that makes your eyes tired. You get the motion at a resolution that works for standard 1080p/1440p screens (2K) and high-res displays (4K).
The listing offers two versions, which is a nice touch for flexibility. You can grab the 4K static + 2K live combo, or step up to the full 4K/8K static + 2K/4K live bundle. This means you can match the file size to your storage needs without paying a premium for a “pro” tier that includes features you don’t need. It’s a straightforward, high-quality art drop that respects the buyer’s hardware.
Why it’s on our radar
This pack stands out because it bridges the gap between “art print” and “functional desktop asset.” Many digital art sales are just a high-res PNG; this is a JPG/MP4 hybrid that is ready to plug into a live wallpaper engine. The specificity of the 60FPS frame rate is also a strong signal of quality—choppy animations are a common failure point in live wallpaper packs, and WLOP’s attention to that detail suggests a polished final product.
The art itself, “The Cone of Fate,” carries the signature WLOP aesthetic: detailed, atmospheric, and character-driven. For collectors of his work, this is a way to own a specific piece in a format that actually enhances the viewing experience. It’s not a generic landscape; it’s a curated moment from his portfolio, packaged for immediate desktop use.
Buyers appreciate the consistency of his output. As one Gumroad review notes: “What you create is always so beautiful. Keep doing what you’re doing!”
What actually matters
Before you hit checkout, keep these three points in mind to ensure this fits your setup:
- File Formats: The static wallpapers are JPG, not PNG. For most desktop use, this is fine and keeps file sizes manageable. If you need a transparent background for layering, this won’t work, but for a standard desktop, JPG is the practical choice.
- Live Wallpaper Compatibility: The MP4 files are standard, but you will need a live wallpaper application (like Lively Wallpaper on Windows or Wallpaper Engine on Steam) to display them. The files themselves won’t animate in your standard OS settings.
- Resolution Match: If you have a 4K monitor, the 4K live wallpaper is perfect. If you have a 1440p monitor, the 2K live wallpaper is the sweet spot. Don’t expect the 2K file to upscale smoothly to 4K; that’s why the higher tier exists.
If you’re on the fence about which tier to pick, you can check the detailed file list to see the exact dimensions before committing.
Mid-check
The $10 price point is low enough that the risk is minimal, especially if you’re a fan of the artist. The inclusion of both static and live options means you can A/B test which you prefer on your specific monitor.
FAQ
Does this include a 4K live wallpaper? Yes, the higher-tier version includes a 4K live wallpaper in MP4 format. The lower tier includes a 2K live wallpaper.
What is the frame rate of the animated wallpaper? The live wallpaper runs at 60FPS, which ensures smooth motion without the jitter you might see in lower-frame-rate video loops.
