What you’re actually buying
What you’re getting is more than just a set of brushes. This is a curated package that includes 11 Procreate brushes, each designed to replicate the look and feel of traditional pencil strokes. The set also includes two paper textures—ideal for adding depth and realism to your sketches. Beyond the brushes, there’s even a digital eraser to help with clean-up and refinement.
But what really stands out is the 9 digital sketches that come with the purchase. These aren’t just examples—they’re study materials you can print, copy, or use as references. Whether you’re a beginner learning how to sketch digitally or an experienced artist looking for a quick way to add traditional elements to your work, these sketches could be a valuable addition to your toolkit.
The set is Procreate-only, so if you’re not using that app, this might not be the right fit. But for those who are, it’s a small but well-structured package. At $5, it’s not the cheapest option out there, but the combination of brushes, textures, and study materials makes it a solid value for the price. If you’re looking for a quick, ready-to-use solution that doesn’t require a lot of setup or customization, Pencil brushes could be the right stack for your week.
The file size of the download is 119 MB, which is relatively large for a brush set in this price range. This suggests that the package includes a fair amount of content, but it’s something to keep in mind if you’re concerned about storage space. The digital sketches are also a notable addition, offering extra value beyond just the brushes themselves.
The brushes are inspired by prismacolor premier colored pencils, and the set includes a dedicated eraser brush to help with clean-up. This attention to detail makes the set feel more like a complete tool rather than just a collection of brushes. It’s a small but well-thought-out package that’s designed to help artists create traditional-looking sketches in a digital format.
Why it’s on our radar
This is a rare case where the price and deliverables are both clear from the start. At $5, Pencil brushes doesn’t promise a full-blown Procreate overhaul—it delivers a specific, ready-to-use stack that includes 11 brushes, 2 textures, and even study materials. That’s unusual for a product in this price range, especially when it includes 9 digital sketches that you can print, copy, or study from. If you’re looking for a quick, structured set that doesn’t require a lot of customization or setup, this is worth a look.
The Procreate-only limitation is a clear callout, so you know right away whether it fits your workflow. It’s not a free tool, but it’s also not a vague “system” or half-finished plan. It’s a small, focused package that’s well-structured for what it does.
What actually matters
- Are the brushes tailored for traditional pencil looks? The set is inspired by prismacolor premier colored pencils, and it includes an eraser, so it’s designed to mimic the look of real pencil work. That’s a clear win for anyone sketching digitally and wanting a traditional feel.
- Does the $5 price cover the full stack? Yes—11 brushes, 2 textures, an eraser, and 9 study sketches. That’s not just a brush set; it’s a small but complete package.
- Can you use this if you’re not a procreate user? No. The brushes are Procreate-only, so this is only for those already using the app. That’s a clear disclaimer, so you know upfront whether it fits your needs.
