The Skip Drake by Skipsy Dragon: is it worth buying?
Here’s the tension the market is leaning into: included Files in this package: Unity Package: 1, Blend Files: 2, Substance Painter Files: 4, and more. The question is whether The Skip Drake actually ships enough structure to match that promise.
The Skip Drake from Skipsy Dragon is a $35 option if you want structure instead of another half-finished plan. Here’s what stands out, who it fits, and what to confirm on The Skip Drake before you pay.
Quick answer
| Best for | Anyone who wants a clear $35 deliverable and will match the stack to a job they have this week. | | Skip if | You need free tools only, a fully custom build, or something that doesn’t match the deliverables on the live page. | | Price | $35 | | Format | Unity Package: 1, Blend Files: 2, + more | | One-line take | A $35 bundle with real pieces (unity package: 1, blend files: 2)—worth a look if that matches your week. |

What you’re actually buying
The Skip Drake from Skipsy Dragon sits at about $35—cheap enough to test, but with a clear stack. The package includes a Unity Package, Blend Files, Substance Painter Files, a ReadMe, and Discord Information. That’s not just a list of files; it’s a setup that’s already rigged for VRChat, with Avatar 3.0 basic setup, puppet controls, and blendshapes for facial expressions and body shape adjustments. The model even comes with 4 hair styles, 4 horn styles, and 3 base body colors per type, giving you a lot of flexibility in customization.
The VRChat Creator Companion is required for importing, and the model is not Quest compatible, so that’s a key check before you buy. The package also includes rotation constraint rigs for better deformation and anatomical cleanliness, which is a detail that matters for creators who want their avatars to look polished.
If you’re looking for a VRChat avatar that’s ready to go with customizable features, this is a solid option—especially if you’re already using the VCC and want to avoid the headache of building from scratch.
The package includes 1 Unity Package, 2 Blend Files, 4 Substance Painter Files, 1 ReadMe, and 1 Discord Information file. That’s a total of 8 files, which is a solid count for the price. The Substance Painter Files are particularly useful for texture customization, and the Blend Files allow for easy integration into existing VRChat projects. The ReadMe provides important setup instructions, and the Discord Information file likely contains community support details or links to further resources.
Why it’s on our radar
This is a VRChat avatar that doesn’t just promise files—it delivers a setup ready to use with the VRChat Creator Companion. That’s rare at this price point. Most $35 avatar kits are either barebones or require hours of tweaking. The Skip Drake includes Avatar 3.0 basic setup, puppet controls, blendshapes, and even 4 hair styles and 3 base body colors per type. It’s not just a model; it’s a ready-to-deploy foundation for creators who want to avoid the grind of starting from zero.
What actually matters
- It’s rigged for VRChat out of the box, with Avatar 3.0 setup and puppet controls—no need to start from scratch.

- Not Quest compatible, so check that before buying if you’re using a Quest headset.
- Requires the VRChat Creator Companion for importing, which is a standard but important detail.
